ABOUT AUTHOR MICHAEL MORPURGO

Michael Morpurgo, born on October 5, 1943, in St. Albans, Hertfordshire, is one of the UK’s most beloved authors, celebrated for his outstanding contributions to children’s literature. A former teacher, Morpurgo’s storytelling prowess has captivated readers for decades, earning him the prestigious 2003 Children's Laureate award. His seminal work, War Horse, not only garnered critical acclaim but was also masterfully adapted into a hit play in London's West End and a Hollywood film directed by Steven Spielberg, amassing numerous accolades.

Morpurgo's dedication extends beyond the page. In 2006, he was awarded an OBE for his services to literature. Alongside his wife Clare, he co-founded the charity "Farms for City Children" in 1976, providing urban kids the invaluable experience of living and working on a farm. This initiative reflects his deep commitment to broadening children’s horizons.

Educated at the King's School in Canterbury and the London University Institute of Education, Michael Morpurgo's blend of educational background and humanitarian efforts continues to inspire and enrich the lives of young readers and their communities.
